Well done! 3.5 e players deserve this weapon, the so called Messer or Langes Messer. I'm thinking... ince sharing many mechanical traits with the longsword, isn't better to consider the Messer as longsword,if wielded by charachters proficient with the longsword, for any of the following feats: Greater Weapon Focus, Greater Weapon Specialization, Improved Critical, Weapon Focus, & Weapon Specialization? |

Oddity[edit]
Huh.
Including to what the rater above said, 1d8 is functionally equal to 2d4. The change in averages is a horizontal step at best. In short: you lose nothing of importance by wielding this with Simple Proficiency only. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 20:24, 29 November 2019 (UTC)
- The sidegrade was intentional, but after some reflection, it does make sense that it should do patently less damage. However, I am keeping the inability to two-hand it because wielding it in two hands gives 1.5x damage. Think of it that you cannot *effectively* wield it in two hands. --Locke (talk) 19:23, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
- I've decided to actually take Aramir's suggestion. It is now a 1d8 Simple two-handed weapon that can be wielded as a one-handed weapon with Martial proficiency, so that it mirrors the longsword for those with that proficiency. This will make it a poor man's falchion, doing less damage and less crit but still a viable weapon for it's bracket. --Locke (talk) 20:36, 12 February 2020 (UTC)
