Monster Template[edit]

So, when the monster "templates" say you get a +2 effective HD, does that include feats? Size increases? If so, you might want to clarify. Other than that, nice class! 76.1.135.229 01:13, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

It's intended like druid, so feats yes, size no. I'll clarify. Thanks! -- Eiji-kun 08:04, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Gotta catch em all?[edit]

I rather like the idea of this class, but the Unquantifiable balance level is also its crux. You're going to have to know just what kind of game the DM is planning before you know whether playing one of these is viable and interesting since you're pretty much completely dependant on in-game content to make the most of the beast feature of this class. If you end up with J.R.R. Tolkien as your DM and only get to kill orcs, goblins and the occasional troll, you pretty much get to eat it. --Sulacu (talk) 21:36, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

On the flipside, if that's all you're fighting and that's what everyone is built to deal with, you'll have a wonderful time being balanced compared to the rest of your group when you get a ... I dunno, bear or something. --Ghostwheel (talk) 21:38, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps, but another problem that makes the balance of this class even harder to guess at is that there is no clear balance point for monsters. Giving a character a means to catch and rear a particular monster with rare, possibly game changing or game breaking abilities could be detrimental to the continued enjoyment of the game. The obvious solution would be to give such a monster one class level and be done with it, but having to account for third party resources when building a game world is troublesome, and I don't know if a monster with beast-like intellect is entitled to a character class to begin with. --Sulacu (talk) 21:45, 2 September 2013 (UTC)
