Purple mist! Purple mist! The Purple One is a mad god obsessed with the color purple. Once a deity of magic, his mind has degraded, leaving only benign but insane lunatics in his wake. The Purple One's original name was lost to the sands of time. Some say he was a mortal who unlocked a terrible lunacy from the Far Realm which drove him mad while ascending him to godhood. Others say he was a god of magic who cast a spell most forbidden. Whatever the case, only the droning call of "Purple miiiiist" escapes his lips these days.
The Purple One appears as a giant purple beholder, with waving yellow eyes and toothy visage. Purple mist belches out of his orb-shaped body with every breath. Unlike most beholders, he is not inclined to evil, but he is twice as insane as the already biologically insane eye tyrants can possibly be. Obsessed with the concept of the poisonous purple mist he exhales, he spreads it whereever he can. He inhabits the plane of steam, where he is hidden by the mists, and in a constant struggle to color them purple.
Dogma[edit]
The world must be purple. The air must be mist. Through great magical powers, he commands his followers to work the arcane powers to make a world of purple mist. As the purple mist is poisonous, obtaining immunity to the mist is ideal, and all clerics are expected to gain immunity to the holy purge of purple mist.
Clergy and Temples[edit]
Clerics and temples are, surprise, purple. Purple robes, purple walls, purple windows, and sometimes even purple facepaint. Images of beholders, eyes, and mist generators are common. Without the world surrounded in mist, things are simply wrong. All must know the truth, the truth of purple mist.
The clergy of The Purple One are not very sane at all. Not at all.
