dude...[edit]
All I want is to make pages for the campaign me and my friends are apart of, we are making it broken for a reason, the pages I post are for that, that is the only reason I put them on this, I did not see my first few post in any listings so I thought not allot of people could find it just like that. The fact of just putting most of my pages on the 'clean up' list is just kinda annoying. If you wanna just put it to where when I post people can't see it on the main pages or whatever we were just trying to make a crazy game. If this for some reason is against this site I will leave it just because all we want is straight up broken game fun. ~DraconicMan
- Hello Draconic Man. I did see you say something to that sort. The problem is that articles on the wiki are expected to be viewed and judged by others, so once it's out there it will be looked at. It's the nature of this wiki, unlike danddwiki we run quality control. While I don't think making intentionally broken classes is the best idea, there is an option for you if you wish to have your articles here. We "sandbox" articles. Sandboxed articles don't show up in the main listing. For example, one of my sandboxes is User:Eiji-kun/Toybox, which won't show up anywhere on the wiki and is pretty much for my personal use. May I suggest sandboxing your material, at the least until you are willing you subject it to the eye of the public and all that it entails?
- Since you seem to be able to post, feel free to respond and I will lift your ban so we can sandbox your stuff. I'll show you how. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 04:23, 21 September 2014 (UTC)
- Alright thank you just I will put everything I posted onto it then delete everything the open copies. Also sorry about over reacting.
Bloodcaster[edit]
Hello. I took the liberty of moving your Bloodcaster base class to your sandbox. I wouldn't want to see it suppressed again, it's so bad it lack a complete spell list. Best regards, Idlem (talk) 22:29, 13 November 2012 (UTC)
The Legendary Badsmiter[edit]
Did you happen to read this today or something? --Ganteka Future (talk) 00:41, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
- BAHAHAHA! I had not seen that but that is awesome. I've actually been meaning to make the sword sheathe of Jetstream Sam for a while, but first I'd need to make a generic weapon sheathe. That, and the fighting style of sword & sheathe wasn't covered yet. But thanks for showing me that, this inspires other terrible things, mwahaha! -- Eiji-kun (talk) 00:46, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

I'm performing some software upgrades that *might* help with the navbox issue. I'll let you know once it's done. Surgo (talk) 07:43, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Excellent. I appreciate all your work Surgo. And it looks like the edit lock has been lifted. Now, I've been removing the navboxes the few times I was making any edits in the last 8 hours or however long its been since it started, should I keep doing that or wait? Don't want to crash the wiki by posting something now. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 08:16, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Don't worry about removing the navboxes template, just have to put it back on later. Instead, I have blocked up the source of your navbox! You should be good to edit stuff without removing anything else until we get it sorted. And edits should be ok, if slow, for now. - Tarkisflux Talk 09:08, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- Also, the navboxes are broken until I get some property types fixed, which is probably tomorrow morning sometime. So... ugh. - Tarkisflux Talk 09:11, 16 January 2014 (UTC)
- I've reinstated your navbox Eiji, but congratulations -- you've made me cut down the results limits in Navboxes from 999 entries to 100 :-P. Any time you attempt to edit one of your pages it's going to save rather slowly (took me 12-15 seconds) but it saves at all now. Surgo (talk) 04:45, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
- Uh-oh... This isn't going to mess up my navbox, is it? --Luigifan18 (talk) 18:10, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Probably not, since the limits in the navboxes have been restricted a lot. If you get up over 500 articles you may need to manage it manually though, or just accept that some you might want displayed aren't actually. - 19:27, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
Moar Complete Epic![edit]
It's sad to see a work with as much promise and goodness as Complete Epic go untouched for so long :-( Did you get bored with it? While I'm at it, I was wondering if you would or could add a mechanism to get some of the salient feats without taking the God PrC, for stuff that it would be weird or inappropriate for (like demon lords or archangels or whatever). Cheers! Surgo (talk) 22:47, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
- It IS sad, but it's not entirely dead. Admittedly most of my work is severely backlogged. It's lack of time and inattention more than boredom, it's hard to get my "spark" that lets me churn page after page of recent changes, so the growth stagnates to "whenever I get to it". Getting messages like this helps me set my priorities.
- Specifically my current issue, which I am actively working on, it making sure I re-understand the balance point I'm going for. That's the tricky part since CE is pretty much uncharted territory there, and opinions of balance do shift over time.
- Point on the salient feats, I had thought of something similar but don't quite know how I want to implement it yet. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 03:50, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
- I know how you feel -- I'm pretty much the same. I have a whole lot of incomplete projects that I just can't find the energy to finish at the moment. --Luigifan18 (talk) 18:12, 23 February 2014 (UTC)
- Speaking of Complete Epic, I've been meaning to ask you for help on a project I've been working on for the past six months or so. My friend (who actually started the project) and I call it CCF, or the Custom Characters Fix (because it was inspired by another person's attempt to make a great customization system). We've taken 3.5 D&D and turned it into an experience-based point buy system, and made a lot of changes along the way that we feel have bettered the system as a whole. I wanted to know if (for one) you'd be willing to take a look at it and tell us where we're wrong (since I trust your opinion on the matter), plus if you'd be willing to allow us the use of your Complete Epic (which is where that comes into play) since you've already started fixing epic and that's something we need to do as well. Also, if you like it and wanted to help, that would also be awesome, but I'm not holding my breath or anything. If you could just let me know, that would be awesome, thanks. TheDarkest 18:54, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hmmm, sure, why not. I'll help if I can. A bit of forewarning; life's been busy and I'm known to be flaky, so I will probably flake a lot. That said if I get the focus and time, I'll give my eye to your project. Of course, I really should finish CE one day. Full disclosure, while it's on my to-do list it's relatively low on the list compared to the more serious real life issues being dealt with, so it'll probably be some time. Oh well. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 18:58, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
- You are a scholar and a saint, sir. Well, if you have a Google email of some kind, send an email to me at ([email protected]). We use Google Drive for the project, so I can add you into the project wholesale. I can also try to catch you up on the many changes we've made throughout the system, most for balance reasons, some for clarity reasons. Thank you, once again. TheDarkest 18:37, 21 November 2014 (UTC)
Also Your Socks[edit]
We're going to need more quality linens. --Ganteka Future (talk) 04:05, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Oh.... mah.... gwad...
- So, I don't know what you want to do with it now that it's on the wiki, but whatever. Abuse of admin power to upload a pointless image that's still technically relevant to the material at hand. --Ganteka Future (talk) 05:22, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Since we're both here enjoying warm mugs of phlogiston, why don't you make a modernizing update to the plushie page. Fix that red link and broken image link. If you don't feel up to it, I can take a kraken at it. --Ganteka Future (talk) 06:09, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Also, forgot to mention, but the belt buckle has an eye-catching toast emblem upon it. It's a little difficult to see because of the scale, though, so I figured it was worth noting. Your gwad indeed. --Ganteka Future (talk) 19:11, 5 March 2014 (UTC)
- Point of note about Lobsterization: I marked you down as "co-author" on the lobster race since you did provide much assistance during brainstorm phase. If you think "contributor" is more appropriate, let me know, or just change it or whatever. Actually, maybe I should just move myself to author and put you and salazar in contributor, since the article is basically a total overhaul using some of the original core elements combined with notes from 2011. How does that sound? Also, I reworded your catch on my copy/paste error a bit. Thanks for that. --Ganteka Future (talk) 02:08, 14 March 2014 (UTC)
New man on the block, and new fan of the almighty Master Eiji-Kun[edit]
Ive been frequenting this wiki a lot more in recent times, but ive only just created my wiki account. Ive never actually played any D&D, but ive always wanted to, and ive role played in other ways with stuff in your articles. I am also the guy who made the small (or large?) changes to the "Clockwork Knight" article, and again im sorry for upsetting you about that.
Still, that and the Autoplate pilot and the Battlesmith all intrigue me as awesome classes id play as. Then an idea came to mind. What if you made a mix of the Battlesmith and the Clockwork Knight? This is part idea, part request, if you are willing to take up the job. I would understand if you didnt, due to your probably busy schedule. But if you did somehow manage, i would be indebted to you, oh wise and noble Master Eiji-kun - Kylem2013 (talk) 16:37, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- I have a fan! I'm touched!
- Don't worry about Clockwork Knight, I'm not mad. I'm probably gonna leave it as the +4 version, seems fine to me right now. As for the idea... Battlesmith + Clockwork Knight, eh? Interesting. I'll mull it over and see what comes out from it. Any specific ideas come to mind? Shall we brainstorm? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:40, 7 March 2014 (UTC)
- Heh, i wasnt so sure that you would actually agree to it so im not sure exactly what i would do. The Clockwork armor and the smithing on the go are the main interests within the two. . .so some type of weaker versions of the two that scale slower for both to be used? Thats all i got for now - Kylem2013 (talk) 04:30, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Alright, any power level of choice I should aim for? I default to High if not specified.
- i dont think i need it done anytime soon, and ive never really understood what power level would mean. If it means balance, then high should be enough, although i never really understood, nor really cared, for balance, seeing as i like the Autoplate Pilot and it was ranked at the moderate balance level. Eh, i like machines and building and battle. Thats about all that needs to be said about me. And again, dont loose sleep over the idea, because everyone needs sleep. Even the almighty Eiji-kun - Kylem2013 (talk) 04:48, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not actually sure he does. :-p - Tarkisflux Talk 04:54, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
well, if it doesnt interrupt your violent hallucinations, a rough idea of the possible class wouldnt be a bad start for tonight - Kylem2013 (talk) 05:00, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- Alright, let's see what my Bag o' Plushies has for me today. Excuse me, incoming brainspam rambling...
- The Robo-Thinger: This class is all about having a robo-thinger, a "stand" all Jojo's Bizaare Adventure like which fights with you. Take cues from PF's Summoner class, as well as the other two classes for inspiration. Can't normally be used as armor or a weapon, but I'll leave options open to turn it into one. Effectively it's an item/companion focused class. One of the big gimmicks I see is binding your life force to animating the thing, which not only allows it to move fluffwise but mechanically lets you split damage and effectively gain an unusually large hp pool. Thus this is a "tank" class.
- Ability scores of choice will probably be Int and Con, followed by physical stats for your own survivability and offensive options.
- Your stand is a construct following its own chart, and augmentable by options. Consder giving it UMD to open up money-purchased useful options for the "summoner" to do while the "monster" deals the main offensive output.
- Other gimmicks include changing places with the robot, looking through its senses, mounts, and the like. I think this may turn into "Be A Construct: The Class" but you're not the construct per se, that's your companion. Keep an eye on multiple action abuse, it'll have the advantages of a druid via a vis action economy.
- Poor or Medium BAB, Good Will, 4 or 6+Int, d8, spellcasting optional (considering a short list of 4th or 6th levels).
- There, that should be enough rambling for now. Back to work/hallucinating. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 05:33, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
So its basically like calling a dismissing a familiar/cohort, completely customizable with an appropriate Craft check, as well as being able to design what kind of output you want to have with it in the beginning. Maybe light and medium armor with simple and martial weapons and shields, but not tower shields. Im thinking this is a more technically minded class, so magic wont be there as much, if at all, unless it is spells to augment the robot (i.e., repair spells, magic weapon spells, etc). UMD and Craft skills definitely, Knowledge skills, disable device, open lock, profession, ride (especially if the robot becomes a mount of some kind), and maybe some others that would also fit. BAB, skill points, will saves and the HD all seem fine. Lets make a page and create it and see how it goes - Kylem2013 (talk) 16:48, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Although, im not a big fan of UMD being a Cha based skill. Im not much of one to get along in crowds, and i never really liked spellcasting as a force of personality, so i never really thought highly of Cha, and never used it, on account i needed Con and Str and Int to do other stuff just fine - Kylem2013 (talk) 16:57, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
Sadly, i have until Thursday if this can be implemented on my first dnd game. Hopefully we can have it done by then, but i still have doubt on the fact that i have heard nothing for the past few days. Not to say that it has to be rushed, just an update on where we might be would be nice :) - Kylem2013 (talk) 01:15, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
- Didn't realize there was a time limit. I suppose I can get started then, eh? -- Eiji-kun (talk) 23:23, 11 March 2014 (UTC)
Sorry bro, turned out just too complicated. It won't be done in time. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 18:22, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
- No problem with me. Anything i could help with anyway? - Kylem2013 (talk) 20:05, 13 March 2014 (UTC)
Since time has been scarce of late, and isn't getting better, have some snacks to tide you over.
Roboticist: Medium BAB, d8, Good Will, 4+Int. Con and Int focused.
Possesses 5th level spells, prepared caster. Casting is generally of a supportive nature.
Roboticist's main feature is the robot companion. Some things are shared with the Pathfinder Summoner class. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 05:04, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I am trying to find thr pathfinder summoner class, but am unsuccessful. Other than that, this is good enough for me so far - Kylem2013 (talk) 06:04, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- I also had a sort of idea on the companion. With how it operates, a bit. How to "summon" it specifically. It could be some complex-ish technique of technology and magic to make the companion compress itself into a small cube, with time needed to bring it out and put it away. Just a thought - Kylem2013 (talk) 06:17, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
- Here you go - PF Summoner. - Tarkisflux Talk 07:18, 16 March 2014 (UTC)
Now i feel over obsessed with this class @.@ i keep refreshing the page in the efforts of somehow speeding up its creation or some other thing. . .Is that bad? - Kylem2013 (talk) 19:23, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Well I got it sandboxed but it's not done (the robot companion is a class unto itself nearly). I am unsatisfied, and I think it's a combination of losing focus and overcomplexity. It happens sometimes, but right now this is so large that no one is going to play it. So, I'll think about cuts and try and get my focus again. In the meantime, have a look. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 03:25, 19 March 2014 (UTC)
- The plushies are watching. The plushies are allllllwaaaaaays waaaaatchiiiiiing!
Image Policy Stuff[edit]
First off, go refresh yourself on our image policy here: Dungeons and Dragons Wiki:Image Policies
Secondly, I placed the delete template on several files you uploaded recently because they lacked sources and need sources. Comments were also left on the file's talk pages. You could check the recent changes or check Special:NewFiles to see things that have been uploaded recently. Please, take care of this as soon as you have time. I realize it's a pain, but it's even more of a pain having to slog through all the recent files to see who failed to adhere to the rules. Be responsible with your images. Also, for the love of Sheep the Head, give those files better names! There's a little box you can type a new name into when you upload files! You can even move files after you upload them! Peeved my pet! --Ganteka Future (talk) 23:17, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
My Bad[edit]
So realizing the social toe stomp that I may have done, all stemming from my inability to read things appropriately. So here I am to let you know after stumbling upon your Pyromaniac class I decided to try it out in my current game and stumbled upon several things that just didn't work out well for balance sake. So with some play testing accomplished I went through and . . . changed some things. . . So if you undo all the changes I would understand. However if you are willing to excuse my rudeness and have a discussion over things that would be great as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gr7mm Bobb (talk • contribs) at
- Not Eiji, but thought this warranted saying.
- Normally I'd go through and just revert all of the changes already, but I'll pass for now (though another user who hasn't read this yet still might). Eiji should be by in a bit to discuss them, as he's pretty good about that sort of thing. It would help if you left comments as to what the "balance" problems were on the pages that you've changed, as "for balance sake" is an extremely vague and poorly defined argument for doing anything.
- In future, it's helpful if you sign your comments on talk pages. You can do so by adding ~~~~ to the end of your comments, or clicking the appropriate option on the edit window. And welcome to the wiki Gr7mm Bobb. Glad you found something you liked enough to join up, even if you did maybe step on some toes in the process :-p - Tarkisflux Talk 16:42, 4 August 2014 (UTC)
- Alright, I've taken a look-see. First, thanks for understanding. No offense taken.
- It looks like it was primarily nerfs. Firebolt was reduced to 1/2 level, speed reduced to 1/2 progression, and decypher script added. While the changes aren't harmful per se, the full damage progression was entirely intentional since it was a Very High listed class rather than a High class (I don't really care about the speed nerf as much). That is to say it is intentionally stronger than warlock since it's more focused on raw damage blasts.
- That said I find it good changes for reducing it to a High level class (though some may disagree with me). I think a fair compromise might be to add an adaption footnote detailing said changes for reducing it to a high level class, while keeping the original full progression for the default Very High level.
- Ok I definitely like the idea of having an Alternate note for dealing with lower powered games. Maybe I can shake things up with the DM and talk him into 3/4 in Firebolt damage instead of 1/2. And dechipher script was added because I may be slighty retarded and forgot that you can decipher and use a scroll solely out of the UMD skill. . . so yeah I guess just chop that off. All in all I love the class and would enjoy working with you on it and provide feedback on play testing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Gr7mm Bobb (talk • contribs) at
- I assume that you approve of the invocation changes as well then? - Tarkisflux Talk 00:27, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
- I've commented on the invocation pages individually, there were really only two that weren't clarity/typo changes. For one, it.... really didn't change (and if he'd like to comment on it, please). For the other it did change but it was mostly irrelevant, I didn't feel like contesting it. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 00:35, 6 August 2014 (UTC)

The More You Know.jpg[edit]
Scrambler and Dizzy are both characters from Bob the Builder, a preschool show about a construction worker named Bob and his talking machinery that works with him to get the job done. Can they build it? Yes they can!
The 'articles' with their names were pretty clearly about these characters, and as accurate as you'd expect from a few sentences. I have no idea why someone thought they were worth putting up here. Weirdest spam is weird. - Tarkisflux Talk 04:47, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- That's... that's...
- I have so many questions, and the first 99 are "WHY?" Followed by "god those were bad non-articles" and also "do people often do children show settings in D&D? I admit that's a new one for me." -- Eiji-kun (talk) 05:58, 1 November 2014 (UTC)
- This makes me feel weird about the handyman prestige class I've been designing... --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:39, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
Hello Again[edit]
So, will you be finishing this? If not, I'd probably be interested in adopting it. -Hammerhead
Siege Master Bonus Feats[edit]
Hey, I recently stumbled upon your prestige class for Siege Master and instantly loved it. I've been meaning to make a Fighter based solely around siege combat, and this is the perfect template. The one problem I'm having is that the Bonus Feats are "PENDING". I wanted to know if you plan on finishing this up any time soon, and if so, when would it be finished?
- Ah, I'm glad you like my class, thank you IP!
- The bonus feats are in epic progression, sounds like you're epic already. I often put it off since people rarely play epic, but I'll work on it and have a list up shortly. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:27, 30 July 2015 (UTC)
Awesome! thank you very much for such an expedient response! I really do appreciate it! I'll be sure to give your other stuff a look as well!
Rosemoon invitation[edit]
Hey there thought I would send you a invite to a world of Adventure "WOOT" where the sky's rain and everything is really dull... wait what <---- Kicks this guy out.... - First off I need help finishing Vocwel I would like to introduce the vocwel on a Campaign level and imma see if I can get something into Velkor ...We need races...Lots of them just throw them my way and ill write them down...Also what is allowed and what is not..Ive planned on making a campaign where everyone starts at level 1 and I want to campaign to be for a medium sized group meaning 2 DM's so yeah...I want you to be a DM with me XD. Rosemoon (talk) 15:16, 12 August 2015 (UTC)
- Took a bit longer than expected. I don't think I really have time for co-DMing a game (where would it even be held?) but I'm happy to provide whatever advice and tips I can. Not to toot my own horn, but I feel I've earned my DM chops. Anyway, I'll run by your articles again and give it the one-two. Always happy to help, and willing to provide an ear if you want to wax on about your ideas. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 10:57, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
Cleric Domain Help[edit]
So, I've been making two cleric domains... the first, Screwball, is centered around making life resemble a Looney Tunes cartoon in general, and stripping people of control over their actions and/or the results of their actions in particular; hence, confusion and misspell are pretty much its signature spells. However, I'm having trouble finding spells suitable for completing the list, and have no idea what the granted power should be. The second, Train, is built around the suddenly train spell and its derivatives... of which there aren't enough to fill a spell list. I think you're the best person to help me complete them, and would like to formally request your assistance. --Luigifan18 (talk) 03:37, 7 October 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for the assist! I've named you as co-author for both. --Luigifan18 (talk) 00:20, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
Aura Seal — Refinement Request[edit]
Hello. A while ago, I wrote up a special condition called Aura Seal, based on the status debuff of the same name from Xenoblade Chronicles. In Xenoblade Chronicles, Aura Seal does exactly what its name says it does; it prevents auras (read: status buffs and counterattacks) from working. The Dungeons & Dragons version is intended to be similar, but a bit more... Uh, I can't think of the right word to use, but the point is, Dungeons & Dragons Aura Seal is meant to only block effects that are temporary in nature; it does not block effects that are part of a creature or its gear. So, if you have +4 magic armor, Aura Seal doesn't stop that from working, but if you get a +4 armor bonus from a spell, that gets shut down.
As you can probably tell from my inability to get to the point, I'm still a little confused on how Aura Seal should work. So, my request is for you and some other experienced D&D players (like, say, Ghostwheel, Tarkisflux, Sulacu, Ganteka Future, Surgo, etc.) to read the Aura Seal project, then bring as many corner cases and questionable effects to my attention as possible to help me sort out what Aura Seal does and doesn't block. Thanks in advance for the help. --Luigifan18 (talk) 19:35, 15 October 2015 (UTC)

Thanks Man[edit]
Thanks for the feedback on my "telekinetic razor" and "crouching dragon stance" maneuvers. I took your advice on the balances and being similar to insightful strike was my target so in that respect I think I succeeded and just wanted to thank you for your help, patience, and understanding of someone who is figuring out this community. I don't mind positive criticism, actually I invite it, but if people are going to call me juvenile, even after I have stated I am learning, I believe that shows who those people really are. You though have actually given me good advice and I hope I have showed I am getting better at this. So again thank you.Ethereal1111.

Don't judge a book by its cover[edit]
I noticed how you said negative stuff about my 3.5e variant rule about how it is basically has the usefullness of a pebble but CAN YOU READ I said DISCLAIMER THIS IS BEING WORKED ON so read the thing 100% before you speak XX the memenist Xx (talk) 16:00, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- Two things.
- First, if you don't want people to read it, don't mark it as complete in the status section of the author box.
- Second, if you REALLY don't want people to read it (because it's totally within their right while it's in the main wiki space), SANDBOX THE DAMN THING. It's not hard to do, and after you're done, then you can move it to the main space. But if it's in the main space, everyone can access it from the table of contents, and in that case they can downvote it to hell. As has been done. --Ghostwheel (talk) 16:13, 29 July 2016 (UTC)
- So this is a bit pointless and after the fact considering the stuff was already deleted, but I think I should explain as well. The reason I am negative and as forceful as I had been is because I really really needed to get your attention. It was a warning, because you've done this before. You've done this before a lot, and you hadn't made any effort against it otherwise. At the rate you were going, your stuff would just end up getting removed anyway. This isn't unique to you, it's what we do on this website. You have yourself in working order, or you sandbox it... or get deleted.
- And what do you know, it happened. Gotta say, but "I told you so".
- If you learn anything from this, it should be the word sandbox. Sandbox, sandbox, sandbox. It will save you so much suffering.

Rakasta (5e Monster)[edit]
I have replied to your comment "This material is published under the OGL" on the page Talk:Rakasta (5e Monster) --Rlyehable (talk) 01:08, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- Indeed. My knowledge of legal-fu pretty much ends here, so I'm gonna assume you know what you're doing. Strange though, I wonder if they would be put under the "SRD:" title if they're official works. I'll have to ask Surgo about it later. Carry forth good sir. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 01:42, 14 August 2016 (UTC)
- It would not be SRD: namespace unless it was distributed by WotC in the SRD5. And recall that we have a "3.5e OGL Content" section for works reproduced under that license that aren't in the SRD (and UA is there too, for legacy reasons), so if we were going to get serious about 5e OGL material it would get it's own similar bin. - Tarkisflux Talk 05:53, 15 August 2016 (UTC)
SRD 5.1 Document[edit]
I have and could upload the 5.1 SRD file file:SRD-OGL_V5.1.pdf to the files section, but I hesitate to do so, because I am unsure of the redistribution rights/license. It states in one part "The text of the Open Gaming License itself is not Open Game Content. Instructions on using the License are provided within the License itself. ... All of the rest of the SRD5 is Open Game Content as described in Section 1(d) of the License." However, the OGL 1.0a is the same, word for word, as the one used for the 3.5 SRD/OGL --Rlyehable (talk) 00:16, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Wiki owner here. It's perfectly fine to upload it. Maybe someday we can programmatically scrape it and create a proper 5e SRD section. Surgo (talk) 01:55, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm gonna assume this was the legalese I was summoned for, and that it's sorted, and go back to lurking. Cool? If not cool, please repeat ritual offering and summoning ritual. - Tarkisflux Talk 02:50, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- Related question: When embarking on a large project, such as wiki-fing an SRD, is it better to put in articles with limited links and try to add them later as other parts of the SRD are entered, or put in articles that are fully linked, but will have broken links until other parts of the SRD are wiki-fied? What is the etiquette? Compare and contrast SRD5:Paladin and SRD5:Barbarian --Rlyehable (talk) 17:24, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
- I don't know if there's actual policy but usually when it comes making pages and large projects like this, I tend to link everything even if they come up as red links. When the page is actual made (assuming it has the same name) the link will automatically go blue for any of the pages you've placed the link on. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 18:32, 22 August 2016 (UTC)
Hello!/Borrowed Life/Etc.[edit]
Thanks for the welcome wagon :D It's nice to get some of my ideas laid out properly, in a place others can see. I LOVE your work; And I'm actually allowing Gate Knight and Jaunter in my next campaign(s), along with what I've been creating.
As for Borrowed Life, I added the Force descriptor because neither Cure nor Inflict was appropriate, and because it adds a bit of Deflection bonus to AC so the spell doesn't completely suck (Which also sorta preserves the body for the duration of the spell). The spell has the Summoning because while it animates the body, it also summons the deceased creature's spirit back to its body. Force effects interact with the incorporeal, so I felt it tied it all together a bit more. The darn thing wouldn't let me add both Necromancy and Conjuration, but I figured all in all it wasn't terrible. Finally, since the Arcane don't really get much in the way of Positive energy (Beyond maybe Disrupt Undead and similar), I decided throwing Force into it would explain why it wasn't just Negative energy/an undead creature. I wish there was a [Blood] descriptor. Dunno if there's a was to make one though.
Also, while I'm on the subject, do you think I should add in the fact that the raised creature is subject to Turn/Rebuke undead? I think I covered most of that in the "Counts as Undead for the purposes of spells and effects", but sometimes it's better to be more specific. If you're interested in my work, I've got a class - And NPC for it - The I made; And I've got two more classes coming up once I figure out how in the nine hells to work out the mechanics.
The first is (Still debating a name, but Soulbinder Shaman sounds good except the fact that it's so similar to other names of classes on the site) a class that combines the abilities of the Binder and the Totemist and a bit of a Psion-esque (Wear Astral Construct) twist; It has abilities similar to Spirit Shaman, but gains a specialized form of Binding, including its own Vestige list, a bit of a tweaked version of Soulmelds (Again, with its own list, though I figured a form of Advanced Learning/Eclectic Learning was in order so it could learn one from the other lists every couple levels), and a Spirit Companion that is basically the first Vestige the class learns to bind. It gets a Vestige chakra, a lot like the Totemist's Totem chakra, but a bit different. The Vestige you've Bound shapes in the Chakra (You can late use the feats to be able to bind more than one Vestige at a time) and then Bind it to other chakra to get special effects you can invest Essentia into, as well as being able to invest Essentia into the Vestige itself.
The second is Mystwalker, which is a bit of an elven-based Gish type that's somewhat similar to a hybrid between Savant and Bladesinger. Other than the special combat abilities it gets when using the special fighting style, it gets Mystwalker Secrets; These come in five grades - Least, Lesser, Greater, Arcane and Eldritch - And are divided into Stances, Counters, Strikes, Boosts and Arcana, with Arcana being essentially spells, but they deal non-lethal damage (Or raw arcane damage if the character is immune to non-lethal, if they resist this arcane damage with SR then the spell just fails) equal to like 1d6/spell level, and it has a bit of a different setup for Caster Level; Instead using Spellcraft to cast spells, each Arcana spell requiring a check to cast (Wild Magic effect on roll of 1).
And thus I'll be creating a whole bunch of different things as soon as I have the chance to set it all down and mess with it; Including a mystwalker-based magic weapon, and probably a couple of races.
Anyway, thanks! Again, I enjoy your work, and if you have any suggestions, just lemme know :P
Zhenra-Khal (talk) 13:00, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- Eloquent, I like. And aww, I'm glad you like my stuff. I've got a fan!
- Now that you've explained it, I can see it. Mostly for the deflection part rather than the animation part (generic animating energy doesn't really have typing). It's existence isn't a bad thing, it was mostly puzzling to me. I do like the spell, and if I can ever stabilize my sleep schedule so I am A) awake and B) have free time, I'll have to make sure to rate it accordingly. I think Foxwarrior mentioned a bit of advice which seems sound about minimizing rolls needed. The one that comes to mind is you can just make it 1d4+1 days, plus 1 day per caster level.
- I think you have covered "can they be turned" well enough by saying they count as undead. That should cover everything.
Possibly an unintended consequence is that these not-quite-undead would heal with negative and be hurt with positive. I don't know if that was intended or not.Nope I'm dumb, you actually covered it in that they can't heal. Technically this might still make them harmed by cure spells. Is that intended? It is fine if it is, I just wasn't sure.
- On the Binder Totemist; actually sounds like an interesting idea. I'm not terribly good at Incarnum, but I get the gist of it. I'm kind of imagining you binding vestiges to item slots for effects, and that's pretty cool. Mystwalker is a bit stranger. Souls like a maneuver/invoker class, which I could see. The part that puzzles me is "Instead using Spellcraft to cast spells, each Arcana spell requiring a check to cast (Wild Magic effect on roll of 1)." What did you mean here?
- I'll keep an eye out. I'm around often, the question is just am I lucid enough to focus? Ha. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 03:10, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
- I've revised the spell a bit; Added the Evil descriptor so as to limit good-aligned Clerics and Druids from using it. Removed the Force descriptor for the moment, will probably add it back shortly. On the cure spells; It's not intended that they're harmed or healed by cure or inflict spells; But they're still subject to positive energy damage such as the Xag-Ya's attacks. I changed the spell around a little; the damage the caster takes is now Con damage, which again, cannot be healed until the zombie loses some HP. Zombie loses spells it had prepared and the like, but can regain them later as normal; However, they suffer a percentage chance of failure upon casting equal to 10% per spell level, in addition to any failure chance from armor and the like. this way, if the party Cleric dies and they need him, the Wizard can raise him as a zombie and the next day, the cleric has an opportunity to rez himself. The guy i was explaining this to yesterday had a hard time wrapping his mind around that; But then again, he didn't like Arcanes getting a semi-rez either and thought the spell was useless, so. I did increase the XP cost to 1d4x10/HD instead of 1d4+1/HD, but the zombie, rather than -4 on 4 stats takes -4 on Con and Cha and is fatigued instead, which as we know is -2 Str/Dex and cannot run, which isn't as terrible.
- I will look into changing the duration; 1d4+1, +1/CL sounds reasonable; I only did the 1d2/CL thing to add randomness so there's no real certainty as to how long the spell will last, so the target spends part of their time worrying they're about to croak again; Maybe just 1d3 days/CL but I dunno. I'll think on it.
- I had in mind to perhaps make an Improved/Greater version at 5th (Sorcerer/Wizard) and 6th (Cleric/Druid) that turns the target instead into a pseudo-vampire; The spell's target can now heal himself via Con-draining others, taking some of the weight off the caster (Con sacrifice is 1/2HD instead of 1/1 for this spell), and there would be less penalty to the target character, but of course, the pseudo-vamp might start off with less HP when raised than the zombie would have due to the caster sacrificing less. Still a concept in progress overall, still working on getting it right.
- As for Mystwalker, the idea was that to cast a spell was a lot like a Truenamer's utterances; You roll to see if you cast and each time you cast the same one, the DC increases by 2; Figured on adding a feat for this which would let them burn HP for a +1 bonus on the casting check per 5 HP sacrificed. DC would scale with Spellcraft (DC = Your ranks in Spellcraft + the spell's level, which will be 1-5) and essentially the class's CL would be equal to their ranks in Spellcraft -3. Don't know whether they should provoke AoO's for this though, since they're already having to make a check just to cast.
- For Mystwalker, I'm also debating rather than structured spells, just giving shapes and essences for Arcana - When they cast it, they choose the shape and the effect, so they could create a blade of force, a cone of Hold, a burst of acid, a chain heal, whatever, on the fly. Still haven't really worked it all out yet. Though, I could make an Eclectic Learning for this where every like, 4 levels you can choose a spell from the Wizard/Sorcerer list to cast as a
- As for the maneuver aspect of the Secrets, they're a little different from the ToB stuff but work pretty much the same way; The levels only go for 1-5, so these won't really be obtainable by ToB classes. And most of the things are somewhat mundane; Strikes that add 1dX elemental damage, etc. Most of the stances are focused on speed and the like, taking a bit from Dervish, War Mind's Sweeping Strike, and etc. A couple of the strikes would be little more than Spring Attack, Pounce and Whirlwind Attack, but those are still useful.
- The difference between the ToB and this is, when you learn a low-level maneuver, you can learn it again at the next level up (Least to Lesser) to increase its power, and the same with stances; And rather than requiring one or two from the same discipline, the different maneuvers require certain specific maneuvers - Learning Sweeping Strike before you get the Whirlwind strike or the Sweeping Strike stance, for example.
- Mystwalker is centered around a specific fighting style: Light or no armor, no shield, light load, and using a specific weapon in your mainhand and nothing in your offhand (Weapon was gonna be a special weapon I designed until I realized the Elven Thinblade from Races of the Wild was literally identical, so guess what I'm using :D ). This is called being Centered (Cheap name, may come up with better later) and most of your class features - Including all of your Secrets, whether they're Stances, Strikes, Arcana or whatever - Require it. Of course this lets you add 1 point of Intelligence bonus per class level (like Duelist) to your AC as a Dodge bonus (And I think I wanted it to add to your Reflex saves to but I don't remember), and since Intellect is your casting stat with this class, makes sense. Makes up for the lack of armor and shields a bit.
- Anyway, if you have ideas, just gimme a whistle. I nervously check my pages every couple hours to see if anyone said anything, so I'll notice :P And yeah, I know how the sleep schedule thing goes; I just have gotten mine back on a semi-decent level.
- Yikes, long post. Zhenra-Khal (talk) 13:00, 29 September 2016 (UTC)
