A creation of the Variable Approximate Duplicator, these capsules can either be keyed to a specific individual or to the thrower, creating a duplicate that resembles them... but is off in a lot of ways.
If divined or identified, this small black and blue capsule is revealed to contain condensed "spirit stuff" ready to be awakened into life.
When thrown, it cracks open and creates an approximate duplicate of a humanoid or monstrous humanoid of Small or Medium size. Though, this creature is instead an outsider that is only based on the form of its creator. It is created wearing an outfit costing no more than 10 gp, based on the style of its creator.
The duplicate begins with one HD of outsider and its creator's size and starting ability scores before racial adjustments or leveling. It also possesses two feats that make sense for it to have; one for being a 1 HD creature and 1 bonus feat it meets the prerequisites for. Any skill that is usable untrained counts as a class skill for its outsider HD. It speaks one language of its creator, typically a base language.
The duplicate's appearance is only approximately accurate to its creator. They're generally of a different skin color (often inverted in some way) with different hair, eyes, slight changes in height and weight and other base features.
While it shares its creator's basic approximate personality and appearance, it is not beholden or controlled in any way. Approximate duplicates can be either of the thrower (by default) or set to a specific creature upon creation of the item.
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, bolt of creation, cloth shape, access to the Variable Approximate Duplicator during crafting and optionally; a sample of material (such as hair or a nail) from the creature to be approximated.
