Suddenly a snake falls out of the tree and flies at you! Boo!
Appearing something of a tiny bat-winged quetzalcoatl, the flying fruit snake is harmless as it only feeds off the fruit of trees. They are about the size of tiny vipers, though they possess "forelimbs" which extend bat-like wings.
Flying fruit snakes are sometimes used to appraise fruits, as they have an uncanny ability to sniff out the freshest of fruits.
Combat[edit]
Flying fruit snakes cannot win a fight and dash away as soon as trouble appears.
Dash (Ex): The flying fruit snake coils up and springs forward in a burst of energy. Once per minute as a free action they can increase their movement speeds by x3 for 1 round.
Skills: Snakes have a +4 racial bonus on Hide, Listen, and Spot checks and a +8 racial bonus on Balance and Climb checks. A snake can always choose to take 10 on a Climb check, even if rushed or threatened. Snakes use either their Strength modifier or Dexterity modifier for Climb checks, whichever is higher.
Familiar[edit]
The flying fruit snake can be taken as a familiar. It grants the owner +3 on Fly checks (if using Pathfinder) or +3 Knowledge Nature checks.
