Amazing biomancer class. Flavorful, fun, very well thought out.

This class has a bunch of interesting abilities that invoke creativity from players and DMs alike. What I like the best about it is that the class features aren't combat oriented yet can still be useful when related to combat situations, while still being a very balanced class. It's a very different feel than most classes, but implementing it into any fantasy setting is perfectly possible. The sciency stuff in here can easily be thought of as just more magic in the minds of commoners.

I actually have a player in my campaign using this class right now. It's great, but I did make one change to the class that was pretty major. I thought that due to the flavor of this class, I decided to have the Biomancer learn spells by recording them in his research notes, and that he discovers spells through his biological studies. Essentially it's like a wizard with his Spellbook, but since most divine casters know all their spells immediately, I'm a bit more lenient on the number of spells he's limited to having at a time. Otherwise he still needs to prepare spells with his research notes and all that.

This class really caught my eye when I was giving classes balance rating. It has an interesting spell list, focused ability, and looks to be a blast to play while staying balanced. Favored.

Question about spells[edit]

When you say all spells that affect animals instead affect aberrations do you mean spells that directly affect animals or basically replace every instance of animal in a spell description with aberration? Sorry if this seems obvious but my DM wants clarification before we start our new campaign. e.x. Is Detect Animals or Plants now Detect Aberrations or Plants

You are correct. It is fair to replace every instance of "Animal" with "Aberration". It's mostly just shorthand so I don't have to write out a near identical spell list with things like "Detect Aberrations or Plants".
Also I'm glad this class is getting some use, I hope you and your DM enjoy it. Thank you very much. -- Eiji-kun (talk) 00:54, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

Thank you for the clarification; for people like me who need a physical copy of the spells I created a Biomancer spellbook. I couldn't figure out how to upload it but you can email me for it at [email protected] -- Ivan (talk) 04:00, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
